Planet River

On the Sassafras River MD (tidal freshwater): evidence of blue crabs (a highly adaptable invertebrate), butterflies on pickerelweed, the "lotus jungle", and SAV (submerged aquatic vegetation). Lotus leaves shed water on the topside (forming water beads), and are quite wet (great environment for various critters) on the underside. Farther down, a damselfly emerges from her nymph stage in a quiet backwater. You can see the wings slowly unfurl.
