Christmas by the Sea
a journey to the islands after Hurricane Sandy
December 2012, the waters have receded, the restaurants are back in business, most of the fallen trees have been collected and turned into mulch. Trucks still drive through Chincoteague picking up the last curbside piles of broken limbs and trunks. A few houses are still boarded up. The only tourists are the snow geese and the birdwatchers following them. We are on a mission to clean up the Hanna houses on Willow Street, mission successful. We make a few forays to the beach and the marsh, and down Main Street. Here's a look at Chincoteague and Assateague in the depths of winter.
