a Brandywine Christmas
If you are familiar with Hobbits and their adventures in Middle Earth, with The Shire, and Mirkwood, Dwarves (all 13) and Gandalf, and Legolas Greenleaf, and the Misty Mountains, you have heard the name of the Brandywine River, also known as the Branduin (in Elvish).
In the (mirky) woods of Penn (Pennsylvania), where we have had at least one legislator named Greenleaf (Stewart J), where we eat like Hobbits, and are as durable as Dwarves, we have our own Brandywine River. It is the site of American Revolutionary history, and the home of the Brandywine River Museum housing famous artworks from the Hudson River School, Andrew Wyeth, N.C.Wyeth, Howard Pyle, Jamie Wyeth and others. Here's some shots from a trip I took with friends in December 2011; Yule on the Baranduin... to see the art, visit the museum or their website, or look up books on the artists' works. (You can't take cameras in the galleries). The Yule decor was created by some talented volunteers, using natural materials.
