Lake Marburg 2018
Like most lakes in Pennsylvania, Lake Marburg is manmade. A dam blocks a creek and floods a valley providing recreation, boating and fishing, as well as being a haven for wildlife including ospreys and cormorants who depend on fish. The water is very clear and makes for great kayaking, as well as the permitted "bobbing by your boat in your PFD (there is no swimming area). It's part of Codorus State Park, and has camping and public programs too. If you don't have your own boat, you can rent one.
Here's some shots from our outings in 2018... cormorant dance party, ospreys at home, what's under that rock and where's my long jawed orb weaver?

Codorus Blast: owls, skunks and flying dogs
in which we drop a new paddler into an Epic Paddle on a Very Hot Day
the new camera and anchor paddle
A silvery day threatening rain after days of actual rain, the Tristans and I set out on Marburg with my new Nikon Coolpix B500 (after the old L100 died) and Dave's new kayak anchor (sufficient to anchor the Queen Mary). Cormorant party still going on, turtle train on a log (most dived off before I got there), the great blue heron I didn't catch because it flew off too fast to deploy camera, the probable green heron I missed cause it was behind me. Caught tho: ospreys, painted turtles, mayflies etc under rocks, long jawed orb weaver, damselflies, butterflies, and great lighting on the water.
Summer's getting brown around the edges. It's August 20.
