Beached: Cape Henlopen

After September 1, the Point of the Cape opens up (in summer, it is a nesting site for endangered piping plovers and others). Sadly, all the 4x4 surf fishermen get there first, so walking the Point is pointless. There are still a few beaches open only to swimmers and surfers and walkers: the main beach, and Herring Point. The bayside, especially at low tide, offers its own beauties.
