Downrigging Weekend 2019
privateers, pumpkins and ponies
and mermaids
This year I did not take ship. I had already done two forays to Chincoteague Island, both of which included a ship, or at least, a pontoon boat, with the "three hour tour" (if you're a baby boomer, you are now singing the Gilligan's Island theme song, which is on Capn Dan's answering machine) of Captain Dan's Around the Island Tours. We saw much history and wildlife and ponies. (click this for more) (and this)
But perhaps, this year I would see what's ashore at Downrigging.
Not as much as I remembered, and the fabulous riverboat couldn't sell their fabulous fish and chips, bah humbug.
We did get some good shots of the boats coming and going. And some nice shots of the historical district of Chestertown. And a muscovy duck. All domestic ducks are descended from mallards... except muscovy ducks.
It's still better on a boat.
Chincoteague mermaid Courtnee and her pony Gingersnap (how else would mermaids get around on land?) joined us...
