An ode to some of my favorite cats...
In this slide show, the ones who have passed...
Nightcrawler and Sindarin (with an appearance by Dae-El and Madmartigan)
Nightcrawler was named after the X-Man from Marvel Comics: fuzzy, glowy eyed, pointy eared, long tail, and definitely bamfs (NC's sound effect). He was a feral barn kitten who came to me in the arms of a friend.
Sindarin was a "blue" cat, the dilute of black. He was named for the language/people, the Grey Elves, in Tolkien's works. I had gone to the SPCA to adopt a cat because one of my old ones had passed. I'd seen a black cat named Raven listed as pet of the week. I checked him out (I hope he got a great home, he was awesome) but as I walked through the kennels, this blue cat screamed at me to take him home. He had been abandoned in an apartment when the idiot humans moved out. When he reached well over 16, he was on medication for a metabolic disorder. There was a day when he was clearly in distress, so I rushed him to the vet. They called back and told me he was dying. We would have to put him down. "Do you want to come back for him?" There was no question... I would never let him feel as if he'd been abandoned again... and he gave me one last purr...
Dae-El (named for a character in the Sword of Shannara) was notable for being one of the last cats to be allowed outside, and showing up with a limpy paw. The vet was sure she'd encountered a porcupine until I mentioned we had thorny trees. She was a Force of Nature.
Madmartigan was named for the swashbuckling character in Willow. He was born in a stable I was doing a working student stint at. He was a striking black (aka brown) classic tabby.
I presently live with a small pride of four mini panthers, aka voids. One is an orca kitty, with her white bits rather like the markings on an orca. They are T'Challa, Shuri, Worf and Uhura.
