Black Horses: Breyer photos for a story
No, I'm not giving a tutorial here on how to photograph dark horse colors. Black Horses is a story I'm working on, first publishing on Inkitt, then on Amazon. Inkitt has room for illustrations, and I used illustrations I had created earlier of the characters. I also discovered I had a ridiculous number of photos taken on kayaking and other expeditions that worked as illustrations. Oddly, Breyer miniature photography works too: the tale is horse-heavy. Black Horses is a contemporary fantasy, middle reader/YA (also suitable for grownups, cough cough Harry Potter/Star Wars/Doctor Who/Avengers fans). One in my series of Tales of the E.L.F. (Earth Life Foundation).

Valerie Swartz (rhymes with warts) comes to the aid of a horseman... horse... man... on a winter night; "Sorry Mom, I was kidnapped by a mythical being and have an errand to run in an alternate universe, back soon." Maybe.
Here are the original photos, plus the versions photoshopped for a lighter, more illustrative look.
